“Right now I’m teaching and providing therapy in Dallas, Ireland, Germany, Iceland, Maine and Minnesota!”
It was April 2020. With Covid craziness and uncertainty all around me, only a few things felt true and clear. And one was my desire to continue teaching and treating patients. Because this is my work in the world and I wanted to carry it forward. But even more importantly, I sensed that this work would be a lifeline for people. I had no idea if physical therapy, dance or yoga translated to online teaching. In my wildest dreams I never imagined this possibility. But I was strongly called to give it a whirl. And I knew in order to do that I had to make a total website shift.
In retrospect I’m surprised how this challenge energized me. Totally curious and intrigued each step along a very winding way. Re-branding and finding ways to clearly articulate something I had never tried. Deep sometimes frustrating dives into technology that mystified and amazed me: Zoom, recordings, sharing sound and visuals, teaching outdoors, offering hybrid classes, devising ways to offer physical therapy without using my hands, developing new payment options.
Pivoting happened so quickly. There were moments of gratitude, overwhelm, nail-biting suspense, utter joy … ultimately a ton of satisfaction.
My old website was unwieldy and not set up to easily make changes necessary sometimes on the spur of the moment. Every month there was another pivot. I needed flexibility and the skill to make changes myself once the basics were in place. I was referred to Caroline and we got started on creating a new website.
With the new website, literally overnight, students and patients were able to easily enroll in classes and contact me for services. But it was more than that. I have had 5 website makeovers over the last 20 years. This website, for the very first time, felt like an authentic representation of who I am and the work that I do in the world.
Maybe it has taken this long to hone that reality. But it’s more than that. Caroline has a way of distilling and weaving and interpreting that translates to easily accessible, beautifully artistic truth.
I was able to connect with students and patients attuned to what I was offering. They didn’t even have to live in my immediate geography.
Right now I’m teaching and providing therapy in Dallas, Ireland, Germany, Iceland, Maine and Minnesota!
And for the first time, after twenty years of websites, I am able to make changes myself since I became basically proficient in WordPress, PayPal, Vimeo and Zoom. Never thought this was a possibility. Caroline’s clarity, confidence, patience and sense of humor were instrumental in gaining these skills.
