I had already interviewed several site designers for my site and time and time again, I felt that my personality wasn’t being translated to the design. When I met Caroline, I had already seen her work from a friend and fellow professional and had a gut instinct she would understand how to transform my vision into appropriate design that both met my professional content goals but also made logistical sense.
All the previous designers I had engaged understood what I did professionally, but they didn’t capture who I was. Since my work entails establishing rapport with clients at a vulnerable time in their lives, my site needed to communicate that I am both skilled at my job and yet also highly sensitive and engaged in my clients’ story. Finding Caroline was the answer to this challenge, and she met it head on!
Considering that I knew nothing about site design or really anything about business and marketing at the time, the challenge of not finding someone to translate all parts of me in their design was daunting and felt frustrating! I just knew that when I saw “it” I would know it. But I was also pregnant and then postpartum with a baby who at the time had to be in the NICU for a serious procedure. The challenge of being sleep deprived but highly aware of how particular my standards would be made me wonder if I should give up.
Fortunately working with Caroline at a challenging time to birth a baby and a digital business was the biggest blessing. Working with her was informative, creative and dare I say fun! For some people, the busyness of business is stressful to think about and so many give up before starting. But if you take it stepwise and get the right people on board, it’s not so bad. And Caroline was exactly who I needed, and her design clearly is also exactly what I needed then, and still!
My life changed when we went live with my site. When I ask clients how they found me, countless women said my site made them feel like it was the oasis of beauty and content they needed to fall into. I wanted my site to be a refuge for clients—a place for women to come across and feel inspired, lit up inside, acknowledged, comforted, and empowered.
Having Caroline get that and translate that design gave me a site that initiates so many conversations that turn into healing journeys with clients. So, what changed is I learned that I can successfully run this small, woman-owned business that does beautiful things for my clients. The type of things that change their lives! It’s like the game dominos—if everything is lined up just right—starting with the first one especially—everything else falls in place and sets off a forward motion that takes on a life of its own. Caroline is my first domino!

There’s a difference between expert and talented. There are plenty of “expert” designers out there and they’ll likely hit everything on your checklist for your site. But to work with someone who has like a 6th sense about personalized design is what separates textbook “good” from phenomenal, original, unique and that special something you can’t quite put your finger on but when you see it, it evokes a feeling from you as a user on the site that makes you stay and explore. If you want your user to have some sort of emotional experience on your site, your designer must have that extra talent. Caroline has that combination of expertise in her craft and artistic talent.
Caroline has a rare talent for sensing what your client wants, and she’s able to translate that energy into art. I think of her web design as an extension of herself as an artist!
